UNDER 12 (U12)

Article 1 – Scope
1.1 These Competition Rules shall apply to all Balkan Judo Association Under 12 (U12)
Championships.
1.2 These Rules shall be binding on all athletes, coaches, referees, officials and participating
National Federations.
1.3 The purpose of these Rules is to provide a safe, fair and educational competition environment
for all U12 athletes participating in Balkan Judo Association events.
Article 2 – Age Category
2.1 The Under 12 (U12) category shall include athletes according to the age limits established
annually by the Balkan Judo Association.
2.2 Only athletes meeting the official age requirements may participate in U12 competitions.
Article 3 – Weight Categories
BOYS
-24 kg -27 kg -30 kg -34 kg -38 kg
-42 kg -46 kg -50 kg -55 kg -60 kg
+60 kg
GIRLS
-22 kg -25 kg -28 kg -32 kg -36 kg
-40 kg -44 kg -48 kg -52 kg -57 kg
+57 kg
3.1 Every contestant shall compete only in the officially registered weight category.
Article 4 – Contest Duration
4.1 Contest duration shall be two (2) minutes.
Article 5 – Golden Score
5.1 If the contest is tied at the end of the regular contest time, a Golden Score period of one (1)
minute shall be contested.
5.2 If a contestant scores during the Golden Score period, the contest shall end immediately.
5.3 If no score is achieved during the Golden Score period, the contestant with the fewest Shido
penalties shall be declared the winner.
5.4 If both contestants have the same number of Shido penalties, the winner shall be decided by
Hantei (Referees' Decision).
Article 6 – Competition System
6.1 The competition system shall be determined according to the number of contestants in each
weight category.
6.2 Categories with two (2) contestants shall be decided by one (1) contest.
6.3 Categories with three (3) contestants shall be conducted using the Round Robin System.
6.4 Categories with four (4) or more contestants shall be conducted using the Double Repechage
System.
Article 7 – Judogi
7.1 All contestants shall wear a white judogi during the entire competition.
7.2 The use of a blue judogi is not permitted.
7.3 The judogi shall be clean and in good condition.
7.4 The judogi shall be of appropriate size to allow the safe execution of judo techniques.
Article 8 – Prohibited Techniques
8.1 The following technique is prohibited: Ura-nage.
8.2 Throwing techniques intentionally executed using both knees are prohibited (e.g. Drop Seoi
Nage, Koshi Guruma, Soto Makikomi).
Article 9 – Ne-waza
9.1 Osaekomi-waza is permitted.
9.2 Shime-waza and Kansetsu-waza are prohibited.
9.3 If a contestant attempts Sankaku Gatame and closes the legs around the opponent's head,
neck or body, the referee shall immediately announce Matte.
Article 10 – Awards
10.1 The winner of each weight category shall be awarded the Gold Medal.
10.2 The second-place contestant shall be awarded the Silver Medal.
10.3 The two third-place contestants shall each be awarded a Bronze Medal.
Article 11 – Final Provisions
11.1 These Competition Rules shall enter into force on the date approved by the Balkan Judo
Association.
11.2 These Rules shall apply to all Balkan Judo Association Under 12 (U12) Championships.
